RFF partners with Latinos Progresando to introduce guitar lessons at Hammond Elementary

RFF partners with Latinos Progresando to introduce guitar lessons at Hammond Elementary

Posted on March 14, 2017

The Riot Fest Foundation has entered a partnership with Latinos Progresando, a program that works to provide resources, community initiatives, and cultural activities to immigrant families in the Little Village & Marshall Square neighborhoods. Specifically, the $2,000 grant will go towards after school guitar instruction for students at Hammond Elementary School for three 12-week sessions.

“Music education has proven positive effects on social-emotional development and on academic achievement, and Hammond, like other schools in Marshall Square, has experienced budget cuts and have had to reduce their arts education offerings as a result. Through Latinos Progresando, students at Hammond Elementary School will be able to continue receiving high quality music education at no cost to them.” – Luis Gutierrez and Connie Prater, Latinos Progresando
